Trivandrum Bridge Academy is a wonderful place to learn Bridge. I joined a few weeks ago and I didn’t even know how to hold the cards. Now I have learned to play and think I have crossed the beginner level. The theory classes and game practices are so exciting, and the atmosphere in the Academy is really enthusiastic. The course is absolutely free, which is really helpful for youngsters like me, and I love learning more about Bridge ♠️♥️♣️♦️

We at TRIVANDRUM BRIDGE ACADEMY are a group of passionate bridge players (Rajeev S, Sahirudeen SH, and Sudhir Velayudhan) who have embarked on spreading the game widely to youngsters and grown-ups in this part of the world.
The Academy is currently teaching the sport to children at Loyola School, Trivandrum totally as a free service. Our objective in this initiative is to empower a school team adequately to participate in The Bridge Federation of India's first National Inter-School Bridge Tournament proposed under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India.
Bridge requires organised teaching for Beginners and Intermediates. We propose regular programs that will serve to provide professional training to aspirants at different levels. A nominal course fee is being charged to partly meet admin expenses and also to elicit learner commitment.
We are happy to acknowledge the support of Trivandrum District Bridge Association (TDBA), Kairali Bridge Association, Maharashtra Bridge Association, Bridge Federation of India, P Rajagopalan of TDBA, and Deepa Jacob of Coonoor Bridge Association.
Microsoft founder Bill Gates is also famously quoted as saying that ANYONE WHO IS GOOD AT BRIDGE IS GOING TO BE GOOD AT A LOT OF THINGS.
"Bridge helps you think. It's a game you can play your entire life and keep getting better and better. It is deliciously simple in the rules but deliciously complex in doing well". "Bridge is one of the last games in which the computer is not better than humans"
Billionaire investor and philanthropist Warren Buffett once said "If I'm playing bridge and a naked woman walks by, I don't even see her."
"Bridge is such a sensational game that I wouldn't mind being in jail if I had three cellmates who were decent players."
"No matter where I go, I can always make new friends at the bridge table." -Former Tennis champion Martina Navratilova
Let us open the window to Bridge, its relevance & benefits to young and not-so-young minds: Bridge, like Chess, is a mind sport, but it is not an individual activity. It is a team-game involving a partnership between two individuals.
It is a sport that stimulates both the left and right sides of the brain. It hones mental faculties & analytical skills, develops strategic thinking & planning. Also sharpens memory, improves mathematical abilities and logical reasoning. In some countries in the West, bridge is now part of regular school curriculum.
By its very nature, Bridge imbibes ethical conduct & character formation, encourages social interaction & team spirit, and promotes communication skills. It also provides a long-term extra-curricular interest, leading to a more well-rounded personality.
For most bridge players the sport is a lifelong companion. Top working professionals endorse Bridge as a game that awakened their problem solving abilities, concentration and memory in an environment where inter-personal relations, team dynamics, communication, patience and ethical behaviour were paramount.
Cognitive Development. It is an intellectually stimulating mind-sport that helps develop critical thinking, logical reasoning, decision making under pressure and strategic planning skills.
Social Development. Unlike Chess which is an individual sport, bridge is a team sport and hence demands teamwork, collaborative engagement, good interpersonal skills, effective communication, negotiation, and cooperation between players for achieving success. The game fosters mutual understanding, respect, and the ability to navigate conflicts constructively, which would greatly prepare the young minds for the challenges of work environments of the future.
Academic Development. Bridge demands continuous attention, concentration, focus and memory retention as students analyze and deduce opponents' strategies in a dynamic situation under time pressure. Improving their ability to concentrate for extended periods will undoubtedly benefit them in various academic disciplines.
Character Development. Bridge calls for high level of ethical conduct and offers an avenue for students to develop resilience, emotional intelligence and healthy competitiveness. It enables them to manage stress and challenges, cope with setbacks, and bounce back from defeats... valuable life skills to help them to thrive in their personal and professional lives in future.
Bridge offers intellectual and social stimulation. Those who play develop memory, visualization and sequencing, and score higher on cognitive tests.
Bridge is very useful for the mental and cognitive development of the brain.
Students develop inferential thinking which leads to better performances in their subjects. It helps them to focus, analyse, make decisions, develop persistence and solve problems.
Successful people play Bridge! Two of the self-made richest men in the world, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, are committed Bridge players and both pledged a million dollars in 2005 to promote Bridge in schools. In the words of the great tennis star Martina Navratilova who also loves playing this game, “Bridge is a cerebral sport. It teaches you logic, reasoning, quick thinking, patience, concentration and partnership skills.”
There is a growing movement to introduce Bridge as a co-curricular activity in progressive schools. In fact UNESCO has resolved: "Bridge can develop, as an awakening sport and through its factor of conviviality, one’s intellectual faculties and a better knowledge of others. It is for this reason that UNESCO accepts to give its help to the World Bridge Federation to develop Bridge at schools."
